National Nature Monument (NNM) is usually a smaller-scale site (covering the maximum of several hectares). The aim is to conserve usually only one natural feature, such as a geological feature (a cave, geological cross-section), mineralogical site, habitat of rare and endangered species or a feature of high aesthetic value created by man (valuable landscape design, arboreta and others). NNM is designated through a directive issued by the Ministry of the Environment. |
